MORGAN PARK — The Morgan Park Police District will host a dog walk at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in an effort to raise awareness of the link between domestic violence and animal abuse.

The annual walk begins at the police station at 1900 W. Monterey Ave. and typically circles the block. People who own pets and those who don't are welcome to participate.

A special dog blessing will take place, and representatives from the city's Animal Care and Control Department will be there with dogs available for adoption.

Officer Carressa Northcross, a district CAPS officer, has said studies have shown that there is a correlation between animal cruelty and domestic abuse.

For more information, call the district's community policing office at 312-745-0620.
