Antonio Moore, 33, And Brian Cheek, 43, Shot Dead In Austin

CHICAGO — Shootings left two men dead just a half-hour apart in Austin on Wednesday, police said.

• At 6:45 p.m., a 33-year-old man was walking in the 1400 block of North LeClaire Avenue when someone fired shots at him, police said. The man was hit in his chest.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Antonio Moore, of the same block where he was shot, was pronounced dead at 7:35 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Exmainer's Office.

The gunman ran toward the 1300 block of North Laramie Avenue after the shooting, police said. Officers saw a man running into a park, and a gun was found.

• At 6:13 p.m., officers responding to a call of shots fired found a 43-year-old man in a gangway in the 1000 block of North Long Avenue, police said. The man had been been shot in his torso and was unresponsive.

Brian Keith Cheek, 43, of the 6900 block of West Armitage, was pronounced dead at 6:22 p.m., according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

No one was in custody in either shooting.
