THE LOOP — South Water Kitchen will close later this year to make way for a new restaurant.

The longtime Loop tavern will close after dinner Dec. 3 at 225 N. Wabash Ave., according to a press release. A new, yet-to-be-named restaurant will open in the spring.

The closure will end a 15-year run for South Water Kitchen, the restaurant inside the Hotel Monaco at Wabash Avenue and South Water Street. The hotel is run by Kimpton Hotels, a chain that also owns the Kimpton Gray hotel in the Loop and Hotel Palomar in River North, among other properties.

"The team is honored to have served their guests for the past 15 years and looks forward to welcoming them into the new restaurant where they can experience the same level of heartfelt service, creativity and passion for food and beverage," Kimpton said in a statement.
