ANDERSONVILLE — Revive is upping the ante.

Revive Massage Therapy and Spa has operated at 4860 N. Clark St. for five years, but last week the spa expanded to the storefront next door adding an advanced skin care and medspa facility, said owner Jim Jackowski.

The spa is now offering botox, laser resurfacing, skin rejuvenation and laser hair removal

"We had two skin care rooms dedicated over there and that kind of snowballed. We were getting more and more requests for skin care. Not just skin care, but advanced skin care. The stuff we need a doctor or nurse for," he said. "They were leaving us and then leaving Andersonville going to Michigan Avenue to find the doctor or the nurse to do their advanced treatments. Now, we’ve put it under one umbrella where they don’t have to leave."

The new medspa offers a huge selection of professional skin care products such as the entire catalog of Intraceutical products and Visia Complexion Analysis System, which offers 3-D Imaging and analysis of the customer's face.

The "educational tool ... takes me out of the picture" and offers "things you can't see with the naked eye," said Jackowski, adding it gives customer's a scientific look at what bothers them and recommends products that can help.

The Visia system analyze wrinkles, pores, UV spots, brown spots and more. It also offers quantitative analysis and visual assessments, according to its website.

The facility will still be offering its standard facials and massage therapy for established customers because "some people are very low risk. ... They’re scared of needles. They’re scared of down time. They don’t want to go under anesthesia," said Jackowski. "But for the advanced things that’s a different clientele."

While botox and facial filler are already on the rise, he believes body contouring, which "kills fat cells," to be a big draw for the facility.

"It’s body shaping. It's not weight loss, but the last little inch that you can’t get rid of. Now, we have in-house procedures that we can actually do that," he said.
