CHICAGO — A 49-year-old man was fatally shot while standing on a sidewalk in Austin Friday night, police said.
The incident occurred at 8:59 p.m. in the 4700 block of West Jackson Boulevard. Someone with a gun walked up to the man and shot him in the face.
Michael Hillard, of the 800 block of North Christiana, was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed the man died from a gunshot in his head in a homicide.
No one was in custody.
