Cranes Are Everywhere! To See City's Development Boom, Just Look Up

CHICAGO — The city broke a record this year with 54 cranes building up the city's skyline.

Here is a map and a list of the 32 cranes that are out right now.

The cranes are largely building in the Loop and Near North Side, but there are also a number in booming areas like the West Loop.

The northernmost crane is in Uptown, where a housing development is replacing the old Maryville Academy site.

Two cranes are currently being used to help build the Vista Tower, a $950-million project that will result in the third-tallest tower in Chicago.

• 243 E. Ontario St.

• 303 E. Superior St. (2 cranes)

• 363 E. Wacker Drive

• 401 E. Wacker Drive

• 451 E. Grand Ave. (2 cranes)

• 465 N. Park Ave.

• 508 W. Diversey Ave.

• 530 N. La Salle St.

• 675 N. Wells St.

• 720 S. Wells St.

• 727 W. Madison St.

• 801 W. Agatite Ave.

• 808 S. Michigan Ave.
