LAKEVIEW — The Lakeview neighborhood offers one of the largest, most vibrant off-Loop theater districts in the city. Throughout October, the myriad theaters and theater companies will be sharing a variety of special programming and offers as part of the Belmont Theater District's Month of Theater.

The program is in conjunction with the City of Chicago's "Year of Public Art" initiative, which saw the investment of $1.5 million in artist-led community projects throughout the city.

The Belmont Theater District has more than 50 theaters and theater companies located within a 1-mile radius, and companies participating in the Month of Theater include the Annoyance Theatre and Bar, Blue Man Group, the Laugh Factory, MCL Chicago, the Music Box Theatre, Timeline Theater Company and more.

Some highlights:

• Annoyance Theatre and Bar will offer free tickets to its improv show "Trigger Happy" at 8 p.m. on Oct. 26, with a special appearance and book signing by Mick Napier, an award-winning director and author and Annoyance Theatre co-founder. Advanced booking is required with code BTDTH.
• Blue Man Group is offering 35 percent off tickets to its 20th anniversary show at 8 p.m. on Oct. 12, and audience members will receive a surprise anniversary gift. Book online, and use the code BTD35.
• Gain free entry to all weekday shows in October at the Laugh Factory. There is no discount code necessary.
