DOWNTOWN — A new glass-topped yacht will give guests dinner and a cruise along the Chicago River beginning next summer.

The unnamed glassy boat from Odyssey Cruises also will serve brunch and lunch on the river. The 140-foot-long, 200-person yacht will have seasonal menus and a DJ year-round.

Odyssey, an affiliate of Chicago-based Pritzker Group run by gubernatorial candidate J.B. Pritzker, already runs the Odyssey, Spirit and Mystic Blue cruise yachts that depart regularly from Navy Pier.

Odyssey's new, glass-topped yacht is being built as the city invests in making the Downtown riverfront a destination akin to Lake Michigan.

“As enthusiasm grows around the Chicago River, we want to offer Chicago residents and visitors an elegant state-of-the-art dining cruise option that hasn’t been available from this vantage point," Kenneth Svendsen, CEO of Odyssey parent company Entertainment Cruises.

The new boat will dock on the north side of the river next to NBC Tower, 454 N. Columbus Drive.

An Odyssey spokeswoman said prices will be similar to the cruise line's boat at Navy Pier. The new boat already is taking reservations for next summer on its website
