BRIDGEPORT — Police are seeking help in finding three men responsible for breaking into a home and stealing a safe in Bridgeport Friday.
The burglary happened around 10:15 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of West 26th Street, when three armed men walked up to a home in the block and tried to get in through the front door, police said in a community alert issued Tuesday. They couldn't get in the front door, so the group went through a window and walked out the front door with a safe they took from inside, police said.
The men were caught on video, however. In video released by police, a man is seen walking up the house and looking around, before walking away and then moments later coming back. In stills released by the department, two of the burglars' faces are clearly visible, while the third man is seen but his face is not shown.
A description of each burglar was released by police.
One burglar is described as a Hispanic man age 20-30 with a medium build, full beard and multiple tattoos on his arms, including a circular tattoo on his lower right forearm, police said. He was seen in the video wearing a Cubs hat and a light-colored hoodie as well as a dark T-shirt and jeans.
A second burglar is described as a Hispanic man age 20-30 with a heavy build, full beard and tattoos on his arms similar to the first burglar, according to police.
A third burglar was described as a Hispanic man age 20-30 with a full beard and slender build. He was seen wearing a black skull cap, a light-colored hoodie and light-colored sweatpants. This man was not caught on video, according to police.
