LAKEVIEW — Increasing expenses and a dip in sales have led Plato's Closet at 2817 N. Broadway to announce its closure at the end of October.
The decision was made on Sept. 15, and it was announced to staff the following day.
"The rent has been going up, and we've been having not as many sales as in the past three years," said shift supervisor Jeanette Billups.
Plato's Closet opened in this location in the summer of 2012, having moved from its spot on North and Clybourn.
Billups said Oct. 28 is the scheduled close date for the store, but it could close before or after, depending on how quickly they're able to sell off all the merchandise.
