MORGAN PARK — Kennedy Park's pool will remain open through Oct. 1, offering relief for those dealing with the record-breaking heat expected this weekend.

Temperatures are expected to reach the low 90s and high 80s through the weekend and into early next week, according to Ricky Castro, a National Weather Service meteorologist.

By comparison, the normal temperature for Sept. 21 is 73 degrees, Castro said.

The pool at 11320 S. Western Ave. will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The schedule is designed to accommodate various groups with designated times for lap swim, adult swim and family swim.

All swimmers must have a pool pass, which are free for Chicago residents with proof of residency. Non-residents can buy a pass for $30 per month. A separate pass is required for lap swimmers that costs $25 per month.

Showers are required before entering the pool area, and floatation devices are not allowed. Clean swimsuits are also required, and street clothes, including gym shorts and cutoffs, are prohibited on the pool deck.

Food, candy and glass containers are also banned from the pool deck.

Here's a glimpse at the remaining schedule for the pool through Oct. 1 as well as details about the different types of swims:
