LAKEVIEW — For some, fall doesn't feel official until they've had their first Oktoberfest beer.

If you're one of those people, Lakeview has you covered with two different Oktoberfest events scheduled before the end of the month.

First, East Lake View Neighbors brings its 19th annual Oktoberfest to Murphy's Bleachers, 3655 N. Sheffield Ave., 3:30-7:30 p.m. on Sunday. A $30 ticket gets you in for a pig roast and vegetables, beer, wine, punch, live music by the Grassy Knolls, a silent auction worth $20,000 and the chance to win the $500 door prize.

The non-profit community organization hopes to raise $25,000 for local schools and charities. They met that goal last year and donated the money to Greeley and Inter-American schools, House of Good Shepherd, Lakeview Pantry, Gill Park youth programs, the 19th District Steering Committee and Ignite the Spirit. The group also sponsored a public art sculpture.

If that's not enough Oktoberfest for you, don't miss Oktoberfest Chicago Friday, Sept. 29, through Sunday, Oct. 1, at St. Alphonsus Church, 1429 W. Wellington Ave. Event hours are 5-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday, and admission is $5 before 5 p.m. or $10 after 5 p.m. each day.

Oktoberfest Chicago offers handmade bratwursts, beer and live music from German bands and local favorites like Boy Band Review, 16 Candles, Wedding Banned, Libido Funk Circus and more. Click here for more information, including the full music schedule.
