CHICAGO — A man was shot to death in Austin on Thursday afternoon, police said.
At 12:28 p.m., the man was in the 5800 block of West Cortland Street when he got into a fight with a 32-year-old man and the younger man fired shots, police said.
The victim was hit in his head and was taken to Community First Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Perry Stroger, 48, of Urbana, was pronounced dead at 12:39 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from a gunshot wound in his torso in a homicide.
The 32-year-old was being questioned, police said.
