SOUTH SHORE — The Chicago Park District has pushed back two upcoming meetings on plans to combine the South Shore and Jackson Park golf courses.

The meetings will now be from 4-8 p.m. Sept. 25 at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Drive, and Sept. 27 at the Stony Island Arts Bank, 6760 S. Stony Island Ave.

The Thursday meeting at the South Shore Cultural Club has been canceled.

Planners are expected to give updates on how they’re addressing problems of maintaining natural areas in the parks, keeping rounds of golf affordable for locals and how to accommodate existing uses like dog walkers.

"These community meetings continue to be an essential part of the planning process because they provide local residents and legitimate stakeholders the opportunity to play a pivotal role in deciding how the district can best serve its patrons, while shaping a better future for the south lakefront,” Park District Supt. Michael Kelly said in an announcement of the meetings.

More information and previous public comments are posted online on the South Lakefront Framework Plan website.
