Robber Lures Victims With Fake Ads On Sales App, Then Holds Them Up: Police

CHICAGO — A robber in Chicago Lawn is using fake ads on a sales application to steal from victims, police said.

The robber placed fake ads in an app where users sell items. Then when the buyer met with him, the thief robbed the buyer, according to a Chicago Police community alert.

The robberies occurred:

• 6:20 p.m. Sept. 3 in the 6500 block of South Richmond Street

• 8:30 p.m. Sept. 10 in the 6600 block of South Richmond Street

The robber was described as an 18- to 25-year-old black man who is 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 and 150-160 pounds, police said.

Anyone with information about the robberies was asked to call police at 312-747-8382.
