CHICAGO — Metra's Union Pacific North line saw massive delays after a train hit a person early Thursday.
Shortly after 4:30 a.m., a train hit a person near the suburban Highwood station, a Metra spokesman said. The crash and investigation shut down all trains going past the station for several hours, but one track was opened by about 7:30 a.m.
Trains began to move after the track opened, the Metra spokesman said, but they were operating with delays.
Some morning trains were facing two-hour — or longer — delays, according to service alerts from Metra.
