Beverly Montessori School Will Celebrate 50th Anniversary With Street Fest

BEVERLY — Beverly Montessori School will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a street festival from noon-3 p.m. Sunday outside of the school at 9916 S. Walden Parkway.

A suggested donation of $5 per person or $20 per family will be asked of those attending the festival, which will include food vendors, a jumpy house, face painter, live entertainment, school tours and more.

Beverly Montessori has educated more than 2,600 children since its debut in September 1967 in the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church at 9401 S. Oakley Ave. in Beverly. Two years after its launch, the school bought the building it continues to call home.

The school's current enrollment is about 70 students. Half-day and full-day preschool and kindergarten programs are offered for children ages 3-6.

All area families are invited to the celebration at the school that was founded as a not-for-profit educational group by the Barry, Burke, Coffey, Foley and Geary families.

Beverly Montessori remains a member of The American Montessori Society and the Association of Illinois Montessori Schools. These two organizations that are charged with maintaining the quality of its Montessori programs.
