Burglar Targets Unlocked Garages In Mount Greenwood

MOUNT GREENWOOD — Chicago Police have issued a community alert after four garage burglaries in Mount Greenwood.

The burglaries all occurred in the late night and early morning, and the burglar was seen walking through alleys, checking for unlocked gates and garage doors, according to police in the Morgan Park District.

All of the garages burglarized were unlocked. The burglar is believed to be between 20-30 years old. He is described as about 5-feet-11 inches tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds and having short hair, police said.

Here's a list of when and where the burglar has struck:

• Aug. 23 in the 11100 block of South Trumbull Avenue

• Aug. 23 in the 10900 block of South Drake Avenue

• Aug. 25 in the 10700 block of South Trumbull Avenue

• Aug. 26 in the 10500 block of South Sacramento Avenue

Police encourage residents to keep all doors and gates locked. They also recommend registering all bikes online or at the police station. Anyone with more information is asked to call detectives at 312-747-8273.
