CHICAGO — Police say this man broke into concession stands along the Downtown lakefront earlier this month and in late August.

The burglar managed to pull open window frames or break windows to get inside food kiosks in Grant Park and 12th Street Beach before stealing from them, police said.

The first burglary took place at 1:28 a.m. Aug. 29 in the 500 block of South Lake Shore Drive. Around 10 p.m. the same day, a seasonal food vendor in the 300 block of South Columbus was burglarized. A third burglary was reported between 10 p.m. Aug. 29 and 1:46 a.m. Aug. 30 in the 500 block of South Lake Shore Drive.

Another burglary was reported at 10 p.m. Sept. 3 in the 1200 block of South Lake Shore Drive.

Police are asking Downtown vendors to keep the building perimeter well lit and monitored with updated security cameras.

Vendors should repair any broken windows, doors or locks and report suspicious activity immediately. Victims of burglaries should not touch anything and should request contact information from any witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8384.
