Downtown Cellphone Stores Robbed By Group Of Teens, Police Say

CHICAGO — Four teens stole cellphones from Loop stores recently, police said.

Three or four of the teens walked into cellphone stores to take phones from the display counter, according to a Chicago Police business alert. During one of the robberies, one of the teens implied he had a gun and threatened the store's employees, police said.

The robberies occurred:

• at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 22 in the 200 block of South LaSalle Street

• at 11:51 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of West Monroe Street

The thieves were described as four black teens who were 15 to 17 years old, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7 and 120 to 160 pounds, police said. No further description was available.
