CHICAGO — A Chicago-based jam band is trying to raise $41,500 after its tour van was stolen in Detroit.

The band, Mungion, lost its van and trailer and everything that was inside, including a drum kit, amplifiers, microphones, band merchandise, electronic keyboard and organ. They estimate the cost of everything lost adds up to $41,500, according to their GoFundMe campaign.

Hoping to recoup some of their losses before going on their first headlining tour next week, the band members created a GoFundMe. The campaign raised more than $5,600 and received donations from more than 100 people in just four hours.

"Although we are grateful that everyone is safe, our livelihood was taken from us in the blink of an eye," the band wrote on GoFundMe. "Now more than ever, we need the help from our Mung Family to pick us back up and make the force even stronger! Any donations will help, big or small. We promise to reciprocate all of the positive energy and love through each and every show we play."

Mungion is a jam band that "transcends genre classification" but weaves together elements from rock, jazz, bluegrass and other genres, according to its website.

"We are able to do what we love because of ALL of you and could not imagine going through this journey alone," the band wrote on GoFundMe. "WE thank you in advance for all of your help, love, and support. We know that something like this will only make us stronger."

The band could not immediately be reached for comment.
