BRIDGEPORT — A man known to neighbors as the "Bearded Bandit" has been arrested in connection to a string of burglaries in the area, according to police.

Prince J. Davis, 28, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Saturday after officers saw him riding his bike in the 500 block of West 35th Street, a police spokeswoman said.

Davis, of the 4500 block of South Drexel Boulevard, was wanted in connection to a garage burglary on June 9 in which he allegedly stole a dashcam recorder from a Bridgeport garage and then pawned it, court records show.

Further investigation connected the man to three other burglaries in the area, police said. He was charged with four counts of burglary for the following incidents, according to court records:

• Feb. 14 in the 900 block of West 37th Place

• June 9 in the 900 block of West 37th Place

• July 25 in the 3200 block of South Canal Street

• July 29 in the 3400 block of South Parnell Avenue

The burglaries have frustrated and concerned neighbors, who called the man the "bearded bandit" on a neighborhood Facebook page. Surveillance footage that appears to show Davis was widely shared and his social media pages were outed.

Davis' bail is set at $100,000, court records show.
