Portage Park Burglars Stealing Copper Piping From Homes, Police Say

CHICAGO — At least five home burglaries have been reported since July 31 in the southeast Portage Park neighborhood, according to a police alert issued Thursday.

In each incident, someone broke into a home through a door or window and made off with possessions including laptop computers, electronics, jewelry, cash and copper piping, police said.

The burglaries were reported at the following times and locations:

• Between 8 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. on July 31 in the 5300 block of West Berenice Avenue

• Between 1 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 in the 4800 block of West Melrose Street

• Between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 in the 4800 block of West Henderson Street

• At 9 a.m. on Aug. 17 in the 4800 block of West Melrose Street

• At 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday in the 3400 block of North Cicero Avenue
