UPTOWN — Just over a year after opening, it appears Seafood Hot Pot has closed — and will soon be replaced with a new ice cream shop.

Signs for the all-you-can-eat restaurant at 1130 W. Argyle St. have been replaced by signs for Ice Station, a new rolled ice cream shop.

A handwritten sign on the front door said the owners would be on vacation until Aug. 15, but the restaurant was still closed Monday.

The new place will offer gelato, bubble tea and "ice manias," according to the new sign on the building. Ice Mania shops sell rolled ice cream, which originated in Thailand.

The dessert is made by pouring milk on to an ice grill and mixing in the other ingredients. (Check out a video below).

The treat is commonly sold by street vendors in Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Philippines, but shops have been popping up around the U.S. over the last two years, according to Forbes.

Legend Tasty House, 2242 S. Wentworth Ave., also offers Thai rolled ice cream.

Seafood Hot Pot opened in August 2016.
