Officer Shoots Man After 'Armed Confrontation' In Gage Park, Police Say

CHICAGO — An officer shot at a man, grazing his neck, Saturday night in Gage Park.

At 8:45 p.m., officers were in the 5600 block of South Artesian Avenue when they saw several men or boys drinking outside, police said. They walked up to the group and saw one of the people had a gun.

An "armed confrontation" started between the person with a gun and an officer, leading to the officer shooting at the person, police said. The bullet grazed the person's neck.

The person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

A gun was found, police said. No officers were injured.

The incident is under investigation, and the officer or officers involved have been placed on administrative duties for 30 days.
