CHICAGO — A shooting in Englewood killed a 24-year-old man on Saturday afternoon, police said.
At 4:20 p.m., the man was near 63rd and Carpenter streets when he was shot in his face, chest and arm, police said. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Cornell Verner, of an unknown home address, was pronounced dead at 4:32 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.
No one was in custody.
