CHICAGO — A 31-year-old man died eight days after being shot in Back of the Yards, police said.

At 5:44 a.m. Aug. 5, the man was a passenger in a car in the 5100 block of South Hoyne Avenue when someone fired shots, police said.

The man was hit in his head and neck area and the driver of the car took the man to Holy Cross Hospital. He was later transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.
