CTA Worker's Hand Crushed By Bus While Changing Tire

By Kelly Bauer | August 11, 2017 10:55am | Updated on August 11, 2017 1:04pm

CHICAGO — A CTA worker's hand was crushed while he was trying to change a bus' tire near Grant Park, according to reports.

A little after midnight, the man was changing a tire on the bus near Congress Parkway and Michigan Avenue when his hand was "pinned" in, said Larry Merritt, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

The man's hand was crushed when a tow truck cable lifting the bus snapped, pinning the man's hand between the bus' wheel and frame, according to FOX32.

The man was taken to Northwestern Hospital, Merritt said. His injury was not life-threatening, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.

The man is a bus maintenance worker for the CTA.
