Free School Physicals Available In Avondale At Wednesday Fair

AVONDALE — Free school physicals will be available to the first 75 children attending a Family Wellness and Back to School Fair Wednesday.

The annual fair will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Avondale Logandale School, 3212 W. George St. at the corner of Kedzie and George.

The first 75 kids will also be eligible for free backpacks and healthy snacks as well as immunizations and dental screenings.

Adult services include child health insurance registration and drug abuse information. There will also be screenings for blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol.

The annual event is hosted by State Sen. Iris Y. Martinez (D-Chicago) along with State Rep. Jaime Andrada, Jr. (D-Chicago), Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35th) and Cook County Commissioner Luis Arroyo, Jr

"The services at the event are designed to keep both kids and adults happy all year round," Martinez said in a press release.
