By Kelly Bauer | August 4, 2017 8:23am

CHICAGO — A 30-year-old man was stabbed while sitting outside in Englewood on Thursday night, police said.

At 8:40 p.m., the man was sitting on a bench in the 6500 block of South Racine Avenue when someone walked up to him and tried to steal from the man, police said. The thief then stabbed the man in his neck and ran away.

The man had lacerations in his neck and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

Officers weren't sure what weapon the attacker used, but said it was sharp, police said.

No one was in custody.
