ENGLEWOOD — A fundraiser to help the Englewood community develop a food garden and create a job training program is scheduled for Friday.
Tickets are $15 and there will be food, refreshments and a chance for people to mingle with other Englewood residents. The fundraising event will be held at 6207 S. Throop St. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Greater Saint John AME Church has come together with Growing Home and the Throopers Block Club to support the church's Food Justice and Urban Farming Ministry.
The goal is to provide nutritional education and offer access to fresh food in the neighborhood. Proceeds will support the church’s plans to develop an edible garden over the coming year, and Growing Home’s urban agriculture and job training program.
