ANDERSONVILLE — Andersonville's new seafood and small plate restaurant quietly opened last week offering some neighborhood discounts as it gets its feet underneath it.
Blu 57 at 5701 N. Clark St., which offers a Thai spin on classic dishes, began its "extended soft opening" last Thursday, said co-owner Jai Sookhakitch, who partnered with chef Joe Sukjam on the venture.
"We're doing some specials for Andersonville residents to get people in to try our menu" without the meal being too pricey, he said.
Those specials include: Seafood Sundays, where items from the ocean section are 30-percent off, and Steak Wednesdays, where items from the steak section are 40-percent off, he said.
The extended opening will help the wait staff get accustomed to the new restaurant and help chefs refine the menu, said Sookhakitch.
While no opening date has been set, Blu 57 hopes to open in early September, he said.
