MOUNT GREENWOOD — Immunizations for the upcoming school year are available at St. Xavier University's Health Center in Mount Greenwood.

Children in kindergarten through high school can receive their required shots on campus at 3700 W. 103rd St.

Proof of the meningitis vaccine is required in some cases. The university's health center also carries recommended vaccines for shingles, pneumonia, HPV and influenza.

“Receiving all recommended immunizations is one of the most important things you can do to protect yourself and your children against diseases such as measles, whooping cough and influenza,” said Katie Tibbits, nurse practitioner and director of clinical services at St. Xavier.

Most health insurances cover the cost of preventive vaccines. For carriers that do not fully cover such services, there are low-cost options available. The health center accepts cash, credit cards and check payments. All community members are welcome.

Same-day appointments are available, but scheduling an appointment helps to reduce wait times. The health center is open from:

• 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays

• 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays
