CHICAGO — A CTA bus had to swerve to avoid a shooting that wounded two people Thursday night in Park Manor, according to reports.

At 7:15 p.m., a 48-year-old woman and 40-year-old were walking in the 600 block of East 71st Street when someone got out of a dark-colored SUV and fired shots at them, police said.

The woman was hit in her head and the man was hit in his back. They were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

A third person was possibly grazed by a bullet during the shooting and was hospitalized, said Larry Merritt, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

A CTA bus swerved onto a sidewalk to get away from the gunfire, according to WGN, but it was still hit.

No one was in custody.
