CHICAGO — The board of trustees for Saint Patrick High School, 5900 W. Belmont Ave., elected Signature Bank CEO Michael "Mick" O'Rourke its new chairman, the school announced.

Having sent two children to the school, which he himself graduated in 1986, O'Rourke became the first parent to serve as chairman, according to school officials.

O'Rourke called his new position "a great honor and an excellent opportunity for me to give back" to the Catholic high school, he wrote in a statement.

O’Rourke joined the school's finance committee after graduating from Marquette University and joined the board "soon after," according to the announcement. He also chaired the school’s admissions and enrollment committee, helping recruit prospective students.

Saint Patrick President Joseph Schmidt praised the appointment, writing that O'Rourke's "enthusiasm toward our students and families, and his unmatched desire to see this school flourish for years to come, make him an outstanding fit for this role."
