UPTOWN — A coffee shop will be coming to the corner of Lawrence Avenue and Clark Street, but it won't be Bow Truss Coffee.
In March 2016, the local coffee chain announced plans to open a shop at 4756 N. Clark St., but the site has remained in limbo as its founder Phil Tadros has faced legal and financial troubles.
A new sign advertising that Ridman's Coffee is coming soon appeared on the building Monday. The coffee shop will be "small, locally-owned and operated specialty coffee shop ... proudly serving Dark Matter Coffee and a variety of snacks," according to the shop's website.
"We're not going to try to reinvent the wheel," owner Sarah Riddle said Tuesday, adding the shop will focus on "customer service."
Ridman's Coffee will have pastries from local bakers and have Dark Matter iced coffee on tap. It will also have seating for about 20 people, Riddle said.
If all goes well, Riddle aims to open the coffee shop in August.
The location is about a block away from her first residence in the city when she moved here from Tennessee 15 years ago, said Riddle, who now lives in Lincoln Square.
