CHICAGO — Workers this month will begin a four-month project to install a new sewer in Sauganash, intermittently squeezing traffic and parking along a short stretch between now and November, officials said.

During the project's first phase, crews will dig up the single block of Peterson Avenue between Kilbourn and Hiawatha avenues, narrowing traffic to one lane in each direction, according to Gary Litherland, a spokesman for the city's water department.

The work will continue along Hiawatha between Peterson and Kilpatrick Avenue, restricting parking along those three blocks, Litherland said.

Both roads will be resurfaced after the work is done, he added.

In February, a city water worker died when a trench collapsed during a sewer replacement project in Sauganash.
