Lavondell Noble, 40, Killed And 3 People Wounded In Avalon Park Shooting

CHICAGO — A shooting in Avalon Park killed one man and wounded three others Sunday, police said.

The victims, all men, told officers different stories about what happened, police said.

At 5:15 a.m., a 31-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk in the 1500 block of East 82nd Street when he said someone in a white car fired shots, police said.

The man was hit in his groin and back and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

A 23-year-old man was hit in his face and a 40-year-old man was hit in his neck and right hand. They took themselves to South Shore Hospital but were transferred to Stroger Hospital.

The two men told officers they were shot in the 7900 block of South Phillips Avenue, police said, but investigators determined they were shot during the incident on East 82nd Street.

The 40-year-old man was later pronounced dead, police said. The man was identified as Lavondell Noble, of the 7800 block of South Phillips, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Noble was pronounced dead at 8:03 a.m. and an autopsy showed he died from a gunshot wound in his neck in a homicide.

A fourth victim, a 34-year-old man, was hit in his left forearm and was taken to Ingalls Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

No one was in custody.
