Uptown Motorcyclist Killed After Running Red Light In Loop, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 34-year-old motorcyclist died after running a red light and crashing into an SUV Thursday afternoon in the Loop, police said.

The crash occurred around 4:25 p.m. in the 300 block of North Columbus Drive.

The motorcyclist was going west on Lower Wacker Drive when he rode through a red light and hit a Chevrolet HHR.

The motorcyclist died at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The motorcyclist was identified as Dobri Dobrev, of the 4700 block of North Beacon Street, by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The 68-year-old woman driving the SUV was taken to Northwestern with minor injuries.

No one was ticketed.
