LAKEVIEW — The Southport Art Festival will showcase artwork from more than 75 of the city's most diverse artists this weekend in Lakeview.

The weekend festival, staged on Southport Avenue from Waveland to Grace, runs from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. The show will also feature live bands, beer and food from area restaurants.

The diverse artwork exhibited at the fest is comprised of a mix of mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, jewelry, sculpture, glass and photography.

The family-friendly event also includes a carnival for kids, a graffiti wall where neighbors can express their inner artist and a youth art area where children can draw and send a picture to U.S. troops abroad.

Admission is free and the event is hosted by the Southport Neighborhood Association with help from Amdur Productions.
