UPTOWN — After 29 years on Sheridan Road, beloved Thai food restaurant Siam Noodle and Rice is moving, but it won't be going very far.

An employee at the restaurant, 4654 N. Sheridan Road, confirmed it would be moving to 4142 N. Sheridan Road, but no date has been set.

The move was first reported by Uptown Update. According to a sign on the door, the building has been sold.

The building was bought by Sarah's Circle, which serves women who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless, and has been vacant besides the restaurant for a decade.

The proposal required a zoning change for the two-story building about two blocks south of its current facility. The zoning change allows for a mixed-use residential and commercial property with 38 units of affordable housing, support services and a facility housing its 50-bed interim housing program.

Executive Director Kathy Ragnar confirmed the agency plans to demolish the building "if all goes well by spring of next year."
