THE LOOP — A pop-up restaurant selling $5 burger-and-beer combos for charity is moving later this month into the Loop's shuttered Wendy's.

Budweiser and the RedEye are teaming up on Bud & Burgers, which will last from July 18 to July 21 at the former Wendy's, 6 S. Clark St.

A $5 donation will include a burger prepared by one of four notable local chefs, a side and a Budweiser beer, according to the pop-up's website. All proceeds will go toward Folds of Honor, which awards scholarships to spouses and children of killed and wounded veterans.

Reservations are required and can be made online. The participating chefs include Mike Sheerin of Rockit Bar & Grill, Danny Grant of Maple & Ash, Robert Levitt of The Butcher & Larder and Todd Stein of Formento's and other restaurants.

Signs promoting the pop-up have already appeared on the former Wendy's, which closed in April at 6 S. Clark and has since been repainted.

Lauren Pulte, a spokeswoman for the RedEye's parent company Tronc, said that the pop-up is the second between the newspaper and Budweiser.

“We’re excited to once again partner with Budweiser for this delicious event featuring four of Chicago’s top chefs. RedEye and the Chicago Tribune are proud to support Folds of Honor,” Pulte said in a statement.
