Hakeem Howard, 23, Dies 3 Days After Humboldt Park Shooting

CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man died three days after being shot in Humboldt Park on Saturday, police said.

At 9:55 a.m., the man was in the 3800 block of West Chicago Avenue when someone walked up to him and fired shots, police said.

The man was hit in his abdomen and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Hakeem Howard, of the 6300 block of South May, was pronounced dead at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from a gunshot wound in his abdomen and complications in a gunshot wound in a homicide.

No one was in custody.
