CHICAGO — A 13-year-old boy was shot dead in Washington Heights on Monday night, police said.
At 7:35 p.m., the boy was in a backyard in the 1000 block of West 103rd Place when someone fired shots, police said. The boy was hit in his chest and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.
Deshawn Martin, of the 10300 block of South Sangamon, was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
No one was in custody.
