BOYSTOWN — Rainbow confetti erupted from the Sidetrack float as a decked-out drag queen and scantily clad dancers gyrated to a Beyonce song.

So went the 48th annual Pride Parade, which took just over four hours Sunday to wind its way from Montrose and Broadway in Uptown to Diversey and Sheridan. This year's festivities included a protest from the Trans Liberation Collection that briefly shut down the parade and an injured passenger on a double decker bus in the parade during its final leg.

But like last year's parade, which carried somber overtones in the aftermath of the Pulse shooting in Orlando that claimed the lives of 49 people at the gay nightclub, the joy of being out and proud won the day.
