RIVER NORTH — The newest condominium tower coming to River North could look like this.

Chicago-based Kiferbaum Development has released renderings of the 13-story luxury condo tower it plans near Dearborn and Huron streets as the developer begins sales.

The 11-unit tower at 56 W. Huron St. would include full-floor condos topped by a two-floor, four-bedroom penthouse. Each high-rise home will include its own terrace and private elevator access.

Prices will run from about $1.38 million for the second-floor condo to $3.99 million, Kiferbaum said.

"It's a more boutique-style building than what's being built in River North right now," Kiferbaum said. "It's in the heart of River North, but at the same time it's a really quiet street."

The tower would replace a former church that's now a hair salon. The salon was once frequented by Michelle Obama before she moved to Washington, according to Crain's.

Like other condo developers, Kiferbaum is starting "pre-sales" before breaking ground on the project. Peter Angelo and Kate Waddell of Jameson Sotheby's International Realty are handling the pre-sales.

Kiferbaum, who's also planning a new retail/apartment building near Armitage and Milwaukee avenues in Logan Square, said he has applied for building permits in River North and hopes to break ground in September. The new tower would open next summer.
