CHICAGO — The weekend should be cool and cloudy in the city.

Friday's rain showers could linger in the morning, said Andrew Krein, a National Weather Service meteorologist, but the skies are expected to start clearing up later in the afternoon. Temperatures will hit around 80 degrees and be slightly cooler along the lakefront.

"Most of the weekend should be dry," Krein said.

Saturday will see temperatures in the mid- to upper 70s and will be partly cloudy but rain-free, Krein said.

Sunday will start partly cloudy but will get cloudier in the afternoon, and scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected later in the day, Krein said. Temperatures should be in the low 70s.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are in the mid-80s, meaning this weekend is about 10 degrees cooler than usual for Chicago, Krein said.
