LINCOLN PARK — The Lincoln Central Association holds its third annual Summer Sipper Sunday at what's generally known as Fire Station Park & Gardens.

Lincoln Central welcomes area residents to what it's calling a free reception from 5-7 p.m. in the garden behind the Chicago Fire Department station at Armitage Avenue and Larrabee Street.

As the name of the event indicates, wine is one of the primary focal points, with Jeff Lawler of Geja's Cafe, 340 W. Armitage, expected to once again set up a sangria bar, joined this year by offerings from the J9 Wine Bar, 1961 N. Halsted St., and David's Tea, 924 W. Armitage.

Hors d'oeuvres will be provided by the reopened Gemini, 2075 N. Lincoln Ave., and the new Tobacco Road Tap Room, 2249 N. Lincoln Ave.

In addition, Victory Gardens Theatre, 2433 N. Lincoln, will performs scenes from its new comedy, "Native Gardens," running through July 2. Written by playwright Karen Zacarias, it draws on matters of "taste, class and entitlement" as played out between neighbors clashing over a fence and garden.

Magician Benjamin Barnes will perform as well.

The park is not a Chicago Park District property, but has been adopted by the association, managed by Sally Drucker. It mixes a natural look with plots for herbs and vegetables.
