HUMBOLDT PARK — Sangria, the popular summer punch blending wine and fruit, even has its own festival — which is coming to Humboldt Park for the second annual event.

Set for noon-10 p.m. Aug. 20 along the south edge of Humboldt Park's namesake park at 3031 W. Division St., Sangria Festival will feature sangria mixed by Chicago bartenders, a pig roast, live music and a world market area with local vendors.

"We created Sangria Fest to give Chicago an authentic Latin experience," said event founder and producer, Michelle Gomez, in a news release. "Attendees are invited to indulge themselves on a hot summer day while sipping on sangria in the park!"

Tickets cost $20-65 and can be bought online. Every ticket holder will receive a complimentary souvenir glass that they can use to taste various sangria recipes, with signature tastings available in a VIP tent.

Sangria Fest entertainment highlights include Flamenco performances and a Samba parade, plus a live music main stage presenting world music inspired by Pop, Latin Rock, Rumba, Jazz and Gypsy.

The Live bands include: Los Bandoleros (Gypsy Kings cover band), Caribe Project (old school Salsa, new school feel), Salsa con Soul (Salsa Funk, Latin Jazz), Purple Elephant Band (Bruno Mars tribute band), and Cadencia Flamenca (live Flamenco).

The DJs signed up to spin are DJ Edlo, Dance Loud and DJ Mauricio.

Natalie Martinez from NBC 5 Chicago and Shanon Lersch from The CW Chicago will serve as Sangria Fest announcers, helping out fest host Mike Oquendo, a Chicago actor and comedy producer.

The food at Sangria Fest will present a variety of global cuisines, including Tapas Valencia (paella), Masada/ Sultan's Market (falafel), San Lucas Kitchen (pig roast) and Flash Tacos (tacos & elotes). In addition, there will be new interactive activities such as a gaming area and a Paint & Sip Sangria Lounge.

Partial proceeds from the event will benefit the San Lucas Church Food Pantry & Hot Meal Program, Gomez said.
