ANDERSONVILLE — Hip-hop ramen superstar Furious Spoon will open in Andersonville this fall, its fifth outpost.

The ramen shop from Chef Shin Thompson and restaurateur Anshul Mangal plans to open in the former space of Johnny Brown Bag, 5406 N. Clark St., according to a press release.

The Italian eatery closed in April after five years in Andersonville.

The 800-square-foot location will have seating for 25 people making it "the second smallest free-standing Furious Spoon." Though it may be smaller in size than other shops, customers can expect a similar look and feel including local art and graffiti, custom woodwork and "plenty of loud Hip-hop," the release said.

The menu will have its traditional ramen offerings such as shoyu, citrus chicken and the Furious Bowl, but customers should also look out for new menu items, said Thompson.

“You’ll still be able to get your favorites, but look out for a couple of fresh dishes," he said.

The bar will offer beer, sake and draft cocktails. On Wednesdays, it will offer Hamm's for $1, the release said.

It will open at 11 a.m. seven days a week. It will stay open to 2 a.m. on Friday and 3 a.m. on Saturdays, the release said.

The restaurant also has locations in Wicker Park, Logan Square, Pilsen and The Loop.
